Joseph and Masterman Finsbury are the only surviving members of a tontine - a life insurance plan into which 37 boys originally invested their money, with the understanding that the last person alive would receive it all. Viewed as an investment by his sons Morris and John, the elderly Joseph is carefully supervised - until the trio are involved in a train crash in which a mangled body wearing Joseph's coat is found. Still hoping to receive the tontine money, Morris and John attempt to cover up the death by putting the corpse into a barrel - which is involved in a hilariously catastrophic mix-up as they attempt to ship it to London...
