Charming, fun, funny and lively — all the best touch points of a rom-com romance. Mia Sosa graces each one of them. She makes reading delicious!

""A*romantic comedy that's*fun and flirty, young and fresh."" -*Popsugar (22 of the Best Books This Winter Has to Offer)

One of Oprah Magazine's 22 Romance Novels That Are Set to Be the Best of 2020

Mia Sosa delivers a sassy, steamy #ownvoices enemies-to-lovers novel, perfect for fans of Jasmine Guillory, Helen Hoang, and Sally Thorne!

A wedding planner left at the altar?*Yeah, the irony isn't lost on Carolina Santos, either. But despite*that*embarrassing blip from her past, Lina's offered an opportunity that could change her life. There's just one hitch... she*has to collaborate with the best (make that*worst) man from her own failed nuptials.*

Marketing expert Max Hartley is determined to make his mark with a coveted hotel client looking to expand its brand. Then he learns he'll be working with his brother's whip-smart, stunning-absolutely off-limits-ex-fiancée. And she loathes him.*

If they can nail their presentation without killing each other, they'll both come out ahead. Except Max has been public enemy number one ever since he encouraged his brother to jilt the bride, and Lina's ready to dish out a little payback of her own.*

Soon Lina and Max discover animosity may not be the only emotion creating sparks between them. Still, this star-crossed couple can never be more than temporary playmates because Lina isn't interested in falling in love and Max refuses to play runner-up to his brother ever again...

Editorial Reviews

MARCH 2020 - AudioFile

Narrating from dual viewpoints, Rebecca Mozo and Wayne Mitchell perform this enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance. After Max causes his older brother to jilt his fiancée, Lina, at the altar, it’s no surprise that she detests Max. Four years later, the two are paired up in a competition that, if they succeed, will significantly change both of their lives. As is sometimes the case with multiple narrators, the skills of Mozo and Mitchell vary greatly. The accents and vocal personalities of the characters are significantly different from one narrator to the other, making one question the collaboration. Mozo’s performance is stronger than Mitchell’s character interpretations. These differences keep the listener from becoming lost in the story. Skip the audiobook and go straight to the print. If there's one thing Carolina Santos knows, it's that her wedding to Andrew Hartley will go off without a hitch. After all, she is a wedding planner. So when Max, her groom's younger brother and best man, delivers the news that Andrew has hit the road and the wedding is off, Lina is understandably thrown for a loop. She's also determined to leave the entire Hartley family behind for good. Unfortunately, if Lina wants to land her dream job, she'll have to work on a pitch and presentation with Max, the one responsible for convincing Andrew to call off their wedding. For his part, Max is tired of spending his time playing second fiddle to his older brother, and if he and Lina can manage each other's company long enough to nail their presentation, they both stand to come out ahead. That's a big if, with the two of them battling their growing attraction despite Lina's desire for a little revenge and the strictly off-limits nature of their relationship. VERDICT Sosa (Acting on Impulse) delivers a steamy and witty enemies-to-lovers romance. Lina and Max's relationship grows against a rich background of Lina's Afro-Latinx culture, and readers will enjoy the complex cast of side characters.—Jessica Moore, Milwaukee P.L.
