Overview

When fourteen-year old Lewis meets a grim gnome at the creek, he learns that an ancient wishing well in the woods will grant wishes. The grim gnome told him that there were rules to making wishes that seemed kind of confusing, Three people, two friends, one not could make wishes, one for oneself and one for each of the others. Since one of them was not a friend, they each worried what the other person would wish for them. Then things started happening, and soon their lives were turned up-side down. Be careful what you wish for....

Rene M. Gilleo is the author of two novels: The Wishing Well and The Challenge of Sorcery. She has also written short stories that have appeared in Candle in the Attic and Doorway to Adventure. She works at a large corporation and writes in her spare time. She lives with her cat and two dogs in Greensboro, North Carolina, where she is at work on her next novel.

The Wishing Well surpasses all expectations of young adult fantasy. Lewis and his friends think it's their lucky day when they find an ancient wishing well. Wishes cannot be unwished, and no one realizes the danger until it's too late. Lindsey's wish for a boyfriend to be tall, dark, and handsome is really tall, dark, and scary, as in, pointed teeth and fur. Lewis's super powers backfire, leaving him plastered to the ceiling. All of their wishes went horribly wrong.
