The War Story
This novel is for mature audiences only as it contains graphic violence and sexual content. This is a story about the life from birth to late adulthood of a rural PA dairy farmer who after learning to fly is drafted in 1944 to the US Army Air Corp and flies one mission which results in the lost of the entire crew except him. He also deals with a cheating fiance, a victory girl, and finally the true love of his life a girl he meets in England. During this part of the war, America was extremely war weary with guys heading for the service seeing only the disabled and the dead coming back and the typical life of a bomber crew was 8 missions. It is a very grim and gritty story and there are lots of detail of what the Pittsburgh PA area, in particular Ligonier and Latrobe was like during the war, but ends on a upbeat note.
