Purpose: This book fulfills the need for a quick, easy-to-reference, yet complete manual of consultative echocardiography. It is intended to enrich and supplement one's knowledge in this rapidly advancing field.
Audience: The audience includes practicing cardiologists, cardiology fellows, echocardiography technicians, and other healthcare professionals. Many of the contributors serve as directors of echocardiography laboratories.
Features: This book is logically organized into 17 chapters. The first chapter, an overview of a normal echocardiogram, is followed by chapters on various common cardiovascular diseases in which echocardiography plays an important role in diagnosis and management. Chapters are organized well, with the most relevant concepts presented in bulleted statements. Many tables summarize the indications for the use of echocardiography, diagnostic accuracy, disease stratification, and important prognostic indicators. High-resolution, color digital images are used throughout the book, which also includes access to a website with video clips of all figures.
Assessment: This is a practical, easy-to-read reference that aids in the complete and accurate interpretation of echocardiography.
