The Twins of Narvik, Part II
"The Twins of Narvik" begins as a mystery. An aged Texas Billionaire ponders the claims made by his dying mother, afflicted with dementia, that she was not British as she had said all er life, but rather from a small Norwegian fishing village. Even more outlandish were her claims that she had early in her life given b birth to twin brothers who fought in World War II. Despite his having had these ramblings investigated twice, both times finding no merit to his mother's claims, the billionaire brings in the investigative agency of retired CIA Agent Diane Sterling. Through her contacts at the CIA and British Intelligence, Diane uncovers a multigenerational sage of secret identities, unrequited love, childhood abandonment and undeterred dedication.

The historical time period settings of this saga runs from 1912-1939 in Part I and 1939-1945 in Part II. Part I explores the First World War, including the debacles at The Dardanelles and Gallipoli, as well as the interwar period up to the invasion of Poland, marking the beginning of World War II. The history of the Poles braking the German Enigma Code as early as 1932 is visited, as is the Polish Soviet war of 1919-1920. In Norway, the establishment of the Ofoften Railroad crossing the mountains into Norway is told. Hitler's conquests in Austria and Czechoslovakia are also detailed.

Part II covers the Second World War from the Invasion of Poland in September, the Invasion of Denmark and Norway in April 1940 (and the British response), as well as the Evacuation of Dunkirk. The primary setting for the book is the town of Narvik, and the sea and land battles over the period of April - June 1940. Finally, other Norwegian operations including the attacks on Vemork's Heavy Water production facilities and the tracking and sinking of the German Battleship Tirpitz are covered in detail.
