Rare enough for us to begin questioning why doctors and nurses insist on having intimate access to our genitals on a frequent, ongoing, (in many countries, annual) basis for our entire adult lives.

We are agroup of women who have been harmed physically, emotionally and psychologically by smear testing. Over the years we have left many comments on medical sites such as NHS Choices and Public health as well as many other internet forums warning women of the real dangers of smear tests. Things your docto will not tell you is that cervical cancer is rare but that testing may lead to the finding of 'abnormal cells.' This often results in further treatment such as colposcapy, lletz even hysterectomy even though none may be necessary.
Our comments and complaints are scrubbed from most of these sites to protect the integrity of this programme and as a consequence the harm continues.
