The True Tale of Mista Bone: A ROCK & ROLL NARRATIVE
After continual problems with the law, singer Jack Russell moved to Los Angeles where his focus shifted from rebellious small-town antics to unruly nights on the Sunset Strip. Then came the birth of Great White. The band signed with Capitol and began touring with the biggest acts in rock and roll, but the road was an invitation for continued substance abuse and trouble in the limelight.

Russell's story is incomplete without a candid retelling of his experience during the three-year trial linked to the Station Nightclub fire in 2003. Catching most of the blame for the improper use of pyrotechnics, Russell became the face of a tragedy that claimed the lives of 100 people in just 60 seconds.

From drug abuse and jail time to a record deal and MTV fame, The True Tale of Mista Bone is the long-awaited autobiography of a man with something to say. Penned by author K. L. Doty, fans of Jack Russell will be given a thorough look into the rise, fall, and return of one of rock's most powerful voices.

Backed by commentary from major industry names, Russell's story is one of colossal heartache, healing, and ultimately redemption.

The ending will surprise you.

About the Author

K.L. Doty is a New England native with an impressive artistic skillset honed from years contracted as a musician, writer, and performer. She is the owner and lead creative director of Lemon Sucker Studios and is the songsmith behind the alternative pop project Swan Maiden. Known for her vintage aesthetic and flair for the unusual, Doty’s reputation for original ideas and exemplary work ethic set her apart in a competitive industry. Having acquired academic merits from Oxford, Purdue, and the New York Institute of Art and Design, Doty is also a holistic nutritionist and amateur boxer.

Jack Russell formed Great White in 1982. The band’s earliest records reached platinum status, but the arrival of grunge threatened the future of rock and roll. In 2003, after a Great White show turned fatal by fire, Russell became the face of the tragedy. Enduring blame, he embraced his ongoing battle with drugs and alcohol.

Great White disbanded in the early 2000s. It would be years before a new formation of the band manifested. Today, Russell tours as frontman of Jack Russell’s Great White, leaving evidence of a legend in his wake while successfully navigating the swampy waters of sobriety.
