About the Author

Lalita Prasad Vidyarthi Ph. D. (Chicago), Professor and Head of the Department of Anthropology, Ranchi University, is an Internationally known authority on anthropological and ethnological sciences. He has the distinction of being President of the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Science (1973-78), the Xth International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnological Association (1968). He has directed large scale research projects on triba?development, the scheduled castes and socialization process of tribes in Bihar, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and North-eastern India. His notable publications include Sacred Complex in Hindu Gaya (reprinted).
