Born 26 April 1564 and died 23 April 1616, William Shakespeare was a famous English poet, playwright and actor. He is often regarded as England's national poet, and he is respected the world over for his literally achievements.

Dubbed "The Bard of Avon," Shakespeare oversaw the building of the Globe Theatre in London, where a number of his plays were staged, the best-known of which include Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and Macbeth.
