Overview

The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is divided into three volumes; Part One, Part Two and Part Three.

Part One is narrated by Gilbert Markham and he explains that a widow by the name of Mrs. Helen Graham has arrived at Wildfell Hall. While Gilbert had initially begun courting Eliza Millward, he grows increasingly interested in Mrs. Graham as he becomes better acquainted with her. Eliza spreads rumors about Helen in return for losing Gilbert.

This edition is annotated with a critical essay and biography about the life and times of the Bronte family.
