Overview

Edward Lahti was a Lansing area writer, popular east side poet, and screen printer. In 2008, he imagined the idea of a whale that could fly, and named him Walter. This book, The Story of Walter the Whale with Wings, is Eddie's first children's book and the subject of a documentary film entitled Ed's Whale, which is currently in production. Despite his passing at the age of 35, Eddie continues to be an inspiration to his community, and this book is his legacy.

About the Author

Despite the struggles he encountered in the last year of his life, Eddie maintained a positive spirit and thrived on creation and expression. For years Eddie wanted to publish a children's book he wrote entitled "The Story of Walter the Whale with Wings". With the help of his friends, family, a few hundred newfound fans, and a successful kickstarter campaign for the film, Ed was able to hold a printed copy of his book and read it complete with artwork less than 48 hours before he lost his battle with cancer. An amazing accomplishment and a testament to how much he was cared for by those around him.
