HELEN BRODIE COWAN BANNERMAN - 25 February 1862 in Edinburgh – 13 October 1946


Born in Edinburgh, she was a Scottish author/illustrator . She lived in India for over 30 years where she wrote a number of children's books. She is best known for her fist book, Little Black Sambo (1899).
