About the Author

Howard Worley traded airplanes for horses when he retired as a Navy pilot and moved with his wife, Jean, to their one-hundred acre ranch. In September of 2009, at age eighty-six, he began writing his first novel. In June, 2010, with ninety percent of his novel complete, Mr. Worley faced open-heart surgery-his aortic valve was nearly closed. The surgery was a success, but two days later a major stroke to the left side of his brain interrupted his recovery. Though physical recovery came quickly and he soon returned to his ranch, speech and the ability to put his thoughts onto paper were affected. Through true grit and blessed with a speech therapist who believed in him, he finished the novel in January, 2012. Through it all, Mr. Worley has been an inspiration to his four children, doctors, nurses, physical and speech therapists-the latter of which he fondly refers to as his speech masters. The hope he gives other stroke patients is truly inspirational. Mr. Worley continues to live at his ranch, taking care of it, his horse, Cotton, and his cat, Gypsy. The Stagecoach Murders is his first novel.
