John Oliver Miller, his wife Nancy Elizabeth (Snow) MIller, and extended family leave Butler County Pennsylvania behind in 1881. Drawn by the promise of gold in the rugged Rocky Mountains and rich fertile farm lands in the sceanic valleys of Colorado just waiting for someone willing to work the land. They sold their homes, loaded their covered wagons with personal belongings and sacks of crop seeds, gathered their breeding stock of animals and left their past behind as they headed west for the unknown. Finding a new life in the vast Umcompahgre valley in western Colorado and venturing into the mountains in search of gold, finding much more than expected as their adventures expose dangers from claim jumpers and nature alike. fotuunes are found and lost, battles are fought and through it all the sons of John Oliver Miller persevere.
