Overview

From the Gateway Books series - a series of interesting stories for the slightly older child, with some adventure and each with a Christian theme. When Robin Chesney went to Scotland to visit his old great-uncle, he found that Blackbrae was a lonely cottage in the hills. No sooner did Robin arrive than old Mr. Chesney had to fly to Ireland on urgent business. Reluctantly, the old man left Robin in charge. "Keep the doors locked and the windows shuttered," he said, "and above all, don't let any boys in." So Robin was left alone in a cottage full of dusty books and ghostly murmurs. He was only too glad when his school friend Howard Hunt arrived unexpectedly. It was good to have company - especially when a gang of boys set up camp around Blackbrae, and refused to move. They were led by a tall boy who claimed to be the true owner of Blackbrae, and a persuasive young man whom Robin did not trust an inch. Boys swarmed all round the cottage; there were rumours of buried treasure and long-lost title deeds; and Robin and Howard found themselves under siege, praying desperately for help.
