Overview

Andrius of Gratis was an Atlantean, instructed in the ways of the Priesthood. He was also born an ordinary man, but through a twist of fate, he discovered a long forgotten chant that would return the years taken from modern man by the gods. After living for nearly two thousand years, he decided to chant the spell again, rejuvenating his body to that of a young man. The spell worked; it; it was as if he was immortal.
The Priest, as he became known when such men became rare sights after the end of the 3rd Age of Atlantis, met Nadira, a Krylonean woman. They battled foes of humankind, and eliminated them as a menace to Terra. With the battle won, he and Nadira decided to raise a family. Three children blessed their lives, two boys, Adama and Emory, and a daughter, Falon. After raising them for thirty years, the children set out on their own. Andrius and Nadira felt that it was time to solve a mystery that he witnessed hundreds of years earlier while wandering the jungles of Amazonia.
In a dimension adjoining Terra’s, a feline species called the Furlin inhabited Terra’s sister planet, Furlina. The Furlin were a peaceful species, intelligent, and inquisitive. Interested to account for the mass missing from the known universe, they stumbled upon it as alternate dimensions, discovering how to construct a portal them. After studying Terra’s inhabitants for hundreds of years without ever making contact, tragedy struck Furlina when an insectoid species, the Grut, efficiently slaughtered most of the population the first day in order to claim the planet for their growing population. Many Furlin escaped to Terra; they were safe, but what about the rest of their kind? A timid Furlin accidentally made contact and forged a lasting friendship with Andrius and Nadira, the Olympian gods, and even the beings living from Edena, Terra’s concave surface.
Falon and Emory joined in the final battle that appeared to be in the Grut’s favor until Falon’s senseless death. The battle was won when the strangest of allies stepped forward, earning them a place to live in peace, and a little-known place in Terra’s history.
That was only the beginning of a greater adventure for Falon. Invited to be a citizen of Edena, she accepted the offer and signed on as a crewmember of an Edenan starship. The craft was the first to incorporate major innovations, assigned to return to the Edenan’s homeworld of Marzak in the dwarf galaxy of Canis Major. The craft was fast and intelligent, but that didn’t prevent it from being captured before it could return to Terra. Awakened, Falon learned that she was being given a real adventure.
Andrius and Nadira raised a second family and then went to Terra’s concave surface to check on Falon, along with Emory and his wife Efia, a Furlin. Falon was still gone and the starship was assumed missing. That wasn’t good enough for the Priest and his wife; they needed to know Falon’s fate for themselves. Would they be able to find Falon between Terra and the dwarf galaxy that was 25,000 light-years away? If they found her, would Falon be near the end of her life? They never expected to discover their daughter’s fate, or be able to return to their own homeworld. Neither did they expect the intervention that made everything possible.

About the Author

L. L. Drew never considered being a writer when he was growing up in Michigan, even though he enjoyed writing assignments when he was in primary school (always, if allowed, his stories turned to science fiction). His primary love at a young age was working on mechanical things around the house, just to understand how they worked. His interest spread to electronics, as he neared the end of high school. Selecting Kellogg Community College to continue his education, he chose electronics for his field of study (the curriculum included vacuum tube circuits only since transistor circuits were still new and integrated circuits weren’t a reality). With a degree in electronics under his belt, Lyle joined the Navy as an Electronics Technician - Radar, but he wanted to return to college. Two years later, the Navy selected him as a candidate for NESEP (Navy Enlisted Scientific Education Program). He returned to college at Marquette University in Milwaukee to study Mechanical Engineering while still on active duty. Drew graduated with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (BSME) and returned to the Navy as an Ensign. So where did writing come into his life?
After leaving the Navy in the early 1980’s, Drew read one of several short stories written by his father. One of the stories followed the sci-fi genre, intriguing him. With his father’s blessing, he worked on the story to see if he could expand on it, finding that he easily grew it into a novel (this became the fifth novel in his own series). The problem was that the story developed questions for Drew that needed answered, such as what happened before and after that story—nine additional novels later, he answered those questions.
While working as a Mechanical Engineer, Drew did most of his writing. He decided to try publishing, settling on a vanity press. The novel was lengthy (well over 600 pages), but that didn’t stop people from reading it. The plot excited his readers and many eagerly asked when the next book would be coming out. Drew dropped the publication, though, when work demanded much of his time, and he decided to turn to e books while he continued to write. So far, he has written 21 novels and is in the process of publishing them.
At present, Drew lives in Ohio with his lovely wife/ editing assistant, Rita.
