Overview

What do you get when you cross a dragon, the Department of Homeland Security, a young girl and a small seaside community who has better things to do than cater to heavy-handed government officials looking for a mythical beast, that doesn't even exist? Lots of action, tons of excitement, loads of adventure, and a whole lot of laughs. Welcome to Brookings, Oregon! A popular coastal vacation spot that has just been invaded by a cast of very unusual characters.

Meet KyRik, the newest and most extraordinary resident of Brookings. An intelligent, dragon-like, creature who is discovering that his new home is full of many surprising problems and numerous difficulties. Being an illegal alien has never been so challenging or so much fun. If his new environment doesn't kill him, then the United States Government just might! To compound matters, he unexpectedly finds himself at the center of a teenage girl's world.

Inept bureaucrats want him captured, the community wants to keep him for their very own, and a young girl is determined to save him at any cost. With the help of her friends and the assistance of a 6ft. 6in. 350lb, coffee barista, from the local hot spot for caffeinated drinks, Cheya is determined to save KyRik and what's left of his people, before they are shipped off to someplace like Area 51.

The first of seven books, “The Seven Dragons of the Gilst” is fun reading for anyone, from 7 to 70.

About the Author

About the Author

I have been told that I am blessed with a good imagination. When I was a kid they called it lying. As an adult my creativity serves me well in the area of fictional writing. Now, instead of fabricating lies (told to protect myself from some impending punishment) I write stories that entertain and hopefully teach the reader a moral principle or two, as was learned by that creative child, so long ago.
I grew up in rural Idaho, where I spent my teenage years during the 1970's. It was a good time to be a kid and things were much simpler back then (Home computers were new, but expensive, and the Internet was still a little ways off). It was a relatively straightforward period when good and bad were more defined and not so gray. I fixed cars, ran around with my friends, wasted valuable time and thought that my life would last forever. It was much later that I became a writer. There I found my voice in full length novels, shorter series books - written to continue the adventures of special characters that I had grown to love - and, of course, numerous short tales; all while keeping that uncomplicated childhood foremost in my mind. As a youngster I was an avid reader. I loved a good adventure story with lots of excitement and action. I try to put a little of that in all my books, plus a dash of moral principle. Reading can entertain a person, but it can also teach us in very inspiring ways. I feel books should inflame a desire in a person to become something better.
My family and I now live in another rural setting far away from the Idaho farm of my childhood. Mountains have been replaced by prairie and rolling hills. But the same spirit exists here that was present when I was a kid. It is a place where people care for each other and neighbors help one another through the good and the bad. Fishing, hunting, hiking, biking and other similar activities fill our spare time. (Which is always in short supply)

The Author, his wife, and youngest daughter, all reside in the Northern, Central Untied States, when they are not on the Oregon Coast playing in the sand.
