In this story, after hurting her ankle in a horse riding accident in the mountains near her home, Terrann Wilkinson and her twin sister, Roxanne, are invited to join some old college friends for an early fall overnight at a campground in Minnesota. The ankle hinders Terri's progress when the group goes on a hike and she finds herself falling farther and farther behind. Finally she sees a way to catch up; by deviating from the path, Terri goes across country, hoping to make it in time to fall last in line without being missed. The problem is, somewhere near the middle of the field, Terri suddenly disappears. When the others discover that she is missing, the search is on.
