Amara Smith, Natalie Hoffman, and a group of Specials have escaped. The battle of Official has left the Specials scattered and scrounging for resources. With a destroyed Official in their wake, Amara and the Specials trek through Texas terrain towards safety that seems far from reach. They are out of Saffron and the Phasers clutches.
Now it has to stay that way.
But Saffron is not the only problem they have.
Amara and the eleven Originals have a deadly injection inside of them-the Carpla-that allows them to have supernatural abilities. It's only a matter of time before they will need help. While seeking a place of safety and battling the Carpla, Amara and Natalie discover the truth about the Carpla and Saffron's motives. They meet people that seem to be on their side, but they have learned that no one is ever loyal for long.
When worst comes to worst, will Amara and the Specials be able to fight, or will the Phasers be in control once again?
