Overview

The Scene is the product of years of essay writing from 2019 to 2023, highlighting film and music history with an emphasis on Los Angeles and 1960s culture. In this collection, I touch on numerous subjects of personal interest, from my own seesaw journey into the world of acting, to my thoughts on prominent films, musicians, people and places over the last five decades, and more.
This is very much a project of personal passions, and I approach the subjects discussed not from the perspective of a seasoned critic, but from one of an admirer and observer.
For those interested in film history, music history, the culture of 1960s Los Angeles and beyond, The Scene is for you.

About the Author

Tim Chessman is an actor, voice actor and writer currently residing in southern Colorado. Having spent years in various management roles in hospitality venues all over the country, Tim returned to one of his first loves, acting, in 2018. Along with acting comes a keen interest in the rich history of the entertainment business, from the film and music scenes of 1960s Los Angeles and San Francisco to the magic of modern movies. Tim works closely with several talent agencies in London, the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles, making his film debut in the 2022 short film The Movement, to which he lent his voice to multiple characters. Early in 2023, Tim voiced one of the major characters in the interactive video game Ash of Gods: The Way, and he makes his on-camera debut in the short film The Apprentice: A Star Wars Story, set for release in early 2024.
This is his first book of collected essays.
