The story of the Rune Snatcher and the Primal Heart takes place in Nocville, Washington State. Suffering from school bullies, haunting hallucinations, and the unforgettable pain of the loss of his mother, young Simon Dreamwalker is tempted to put an end to his misery by attempting suicide when that impulse leads him to a fortuitous discovery of the Runes of supernatural powers. The chain of events introduces Simon to Eldwoods, a coexisting environment of magical history that wrangles dark infestations of Hollow. Upon deciding to become a part of the unsung tales, Simon is revitalized and is no longer a slave to nightmares and depression as he establishes intimate ardor for his new life in Eldwoods. But not all proves merry as he comes to conflicts with the noble-born delinquent Magnus Trueblood, experiences strange dreams, and comes face to face with a mysterious shadow that exercises great interest in taking Simon's life. With his fellow friends, Rachel Fairburn and Fortis Goldstone, Simon must investigate what monster is terrorizing Eldwoods or if it has any alternate goal to wreak havoc upon the peaceful world.
