Born and raised in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, Vicky Town's love of storytelling and drama began at a young age. She attended McHenry School of Dance and performed throughout the Pennsylvania region at a semi-professional level. She has performed at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center, from which the Arden Theatre-the birthplace of many successful actors today-took shape.
Town graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of fine arts from Adelphi University in New York. She has worked as a dancer and actress in children's theatre, summer stock, street theatre, dinner theatre, and other venues around the country. Town has been telling stories for more than twenty-five years at schools, libraries, museums, colleges, festivals, conferences, retirement centers, and art centers.
An active participant in storytelling organizations and her community, Town belongs to the Imagine That! Storytelling Guild in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, the National Storytelling Network in Jonesboro, Tennessee, the Triad Storytelling Guild in Greensboro, North Carolina, and the North Carolina Storytelling Guild. She volunteers as a lector and altar guild member at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, where she writes and produces Christmas pageants. Town is on the committee for the Carroll County Fair in Virginia; she performs and coordinates the storytelling and helps with the livestock judging. She and her husband also host Stories Under the Stars nights at their farm during the summer.
Town has received the Phyllis S. Larson Friend of the Library Award from the Delaware County Library System, the To Fill the World With Love Award from Upper Darby Performing Arts Center-Summer Stage, and a Parents' Choice Silver Honor Award. She enjoys growing vegetables and beekeeping with her husband on their farm in Fancy Gap, Virginia.
