"The Ruler" (sometimes translated as "The Lord") is the most famous treatise of the Florentine thinker, diplomat, and official of the late Middle Ages and the beginning of the Renaissance Niccolò Machiavelli. The book describes in detail the goals and methods of government, the forms of government known at the time, personal qualities and outlook that an ideal state leader should possess. The methods and ways of seizing and holding power have been studied in detail. The book was a fundamental work of its time on the systematization of information about the state system and state management. The treatise "The Sovereign" was included in the list of prohibited books by the Catholic Church. Translated into Ukrainian by Yaroslav Myshanych.
