The Ritual of Transition
After discovering an ancient stone tabled while on a dig in Ireland, archeologist, Adam Drex becomes obsessed with deciphering the rune covered slab of basalt. To his surprise, he discovers, or so he thinks, that the ritual contained within the cryptic message is a way to contact a different frame of reference. However, after convincing his two closest friends, Frank West and Jack Benson, to help him carry out the rite at Stone Henge, it soon becomes apparent that it goes far beyond simply opening a link to another world, instead, it tears open the fabric of the space time continuum and hurtles the three companions into a universe where magic, not science is the norm.
At first, all three are bemused by the course of events, however, both Adam and Frank, soon acclimatize to their new surroundings, Jack however, who was possessed by an evil entity prior to them carrying out the ritual, becomes increasingly belligerent, and sets out on a quest to find Draxar, a rogue acolyte, intent on deposing the benevolent rulers of the land and replacing them under his tyrannical rule.
In an attempt to prevent Jack from reaching his goal, a goal that could possibly destroy them Adam and Frank set out on a series of adventures, populated with a myriad of characters, including, Nomets, a diminutive but incredibly skilled warrior race. A giant snake; Groats, Draxar's foot soldiers; The Rockwaren, a subterranean civilization. Elves; Giants; A stygian witch; Riverboat Pirates; a war lord; and a Druid High Priest.
After numerous adventures, the tale culminates in the city of Atlantis, a mythical location surrounded by a vast zone of death that kills anyone that attempts to cross it. Contained within this ancient edifice, is an artefact that both Adam and Draxar must find a way to reach to give them the upper hand over their nemesis.

About the Author

Gerald Hope (Gerry) was born in 1948 in a small town on the east coast of England, at the point where Hadrian's Wall meets the sea, not surprisingly called Wallsend. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to a town called Felling, where he grew to maturity. After a totally inauspicious school career, he entered the workforce and began working in a shipyard, when that closed, he became a butcher for a short period, then ended up working in a foundry where he went through an apprenticeship as a Blacksmith. Unfortunately, that factory closed as well and after a brief stint working in a cardboard box factory, he joined the Royal Air Force in 1970 and spent two years travelling from camp to camp building and repairing communications antennas before being posted to Cyprus where he spent two and a half years.
Returning to England towards the end of 1974, Gerry had to decide whether to re-enlist or return to civilian life. Deciding on the latter, he reviewed the job potential in England and not liking what he saw, opted to emigrate. After reviewing several different countries, he decided on Canada. Arriving in Toronto in April of 1975, he rapidly gained employment at one of the major cable companies where he held numerous positions eventually becoming a project manager, until in 1997 he was caught in the ubiquitous Corporate Down Sizing, so prevalent in the mid nineties, and, after twenty two years of service, found himself unemployed again. Undaunted, he began his own survey and design company in the communications field.
After retiring, Gerry presently lives in the Newmarket area of Ontario with his wife jean and spends his time between taking care of his two grandsons, working in his small workshop on carpentry and writing.
