A league of monster hunters has been born, out of necessity, to hunt down and kill these beasts. Now, Ruth Hemlock has graduated Langdale Wharf's hunting academy, and seeks out her first assignment in the northern trading port of Redwater.
Upon arrival, she uncovers a local legend of a creature simply referred to as The Redwater Legend. A beast that creeps out of the dark canals every thirty years to kill and maim dozens of innocents. Ruth suspects her first hunt to be easy. Just find and kill the monster. Ruth learns the hard way that things aren't how she imagined them to be, and that not all monsters come from the darkness.
