About the Author

Growing up in Minnesota in a catholic working class family of 6, Dan worked hard to earn enough for a Catholic High School education at DeLaSalle in Minneapolis, MN and graduated in 1965. Dan went on to graduate from the University of MN with a degree in business and had a successful marketing and management career at Schwan's Sales Enterprises in Marshall, MN. But outside work nothing was more important than his faith and family. Dan and his wife Karen had 3 children Kristin, Michelle, and Jeffrey and loved spending time on the lake at their summer home in northern Minnesota. In 2006 Dan wrote a beautiful poem about the birth of Christ. He passed away much to soon the following year after a tough battle with cancer at the age of 60. We are blessed to have a special piece of him live on in these words. Grampa Koch's lively spirit and strong faith is carried on by loved ones including his 6 grandchildren who illustrated his story.
