Overview

It is March of 1942. The war is almost four months old. The United States is falling behind on all fronts. Except for the attack on the islands of Hawaii, the threat of a fight on American soil is looked upon as slight. A man arrives in New York with an outline for the first attack on California and the west coast. James Breck is given a small assignment that turns into one of the most challenging in his carrier that spans the country above and below.

About the Author

A certified Pilot since 1982, J. Charles Liegl is a flight enthusiast. His first experience with air travel was at ten when his father rented a seaplane for an excursion through the Catskills. His brother and he built and flew many model airplanes. At sixteen he got the bug and took lessons in link trainers. Finally, he enlisted in the United States Air Force with the intent to achieve his goal, but it was not to be. Physical limitations caused him to stay on the civil side of flight. In 1967 he married his high school sweetheart, “Barbara”. Finally, in August of 1982, he had the money and time to make real his dream. On 9/11/1982 he was certified as a pilot. “If you want something enough to make sacrifices and work hard toward that goal, you can do anything. Hard things are always worth doing.” He found through the years that there are other ways to serve your country and community. He is an active member of SCAPA (South County Airport Pilots Association), DART (Disaster Airlift Response Team) and CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). At 72 he still is involved in flight, community, government and author.
