The Prodigal Son
In THE PRODIGAL SON, a team of U.S. Navy SEALs is deployed into Iraq to execute a "snatch 'n grab" extraterritorial abduction of the Iraqi perpetrators who downed a commercial airliner, killing all 214 passengers aboard, most of them Jewish American athletes returning to the United States after competing in the Israeli Maccabiah Games.
While the highly publicized trial of the terrorists is being arranged, a nuclear device is secreted into Florida, the detonation of which could result in catastrophic loss of life in Orlando's tourist mecca. Demands are made for the immediate release of the incarcerated terrorists. A dangerous impasse ensues. . . .

About the Author

John Riedel was born in Malone, New York about ten miles from the Canadian border. At the age of five he moved with his family to Williamsport, Pennsylvania where he attended public schools 1-12.

After a stint in the U.S. Army, he majored in Accounting at Tallahassee Junior College and Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.

Riedel has been an intelligence buff for the past three decades. In the mid-sixties he was recruited by the FBI to attend the Agency's academy, then in Washington, D.C. prior to the opening of the current facilities in Quantico. At that time he needed either a law degree or a degree in Accounting plus three years of public accounting experience. He opted for the latter.

A couple of years later, his good friend, a special agent with the Tallahassee resident agency, was transferred to a small city in the mid-west. Riedel was disillusioned. This was during the Cold War era and he was hell bent on going after the Soviet bad guys.

He then spent the next forty-plus years as a public accountant and corporate fiscal officer. He eventually began to chase down our nation's enemies, but with a pen . . . not with a gun.

THE PRODIGAL SON is his third novel toward that endeavor. . . .
