About the Author

Elizabeth Hammack is a corporate executive and attorney with over thirty years of experience in a wide variety of industries, including investment management, finance, real estate, banking, internet business and media, software, and venture capital. Ms. Hammack has been corporate counsel and vice president at a national bank, the general counsel of a public company, as well as the chief counsel and managing director of an investment firm. She is currently a consultant to private companies, family offices and private foundations and an executive director of a private foundation. She is deeply passionate about improving board governance in private companies.Ms. Hammack earned a BA from the University of California at Berkeley, studied at Trinity University in Dublin, Ireland, and additionally holds graduate JD and MBA degrees from the University of Southern California, where she was a Dean’s Scholar and a Fellow in the Economics Department of the USC Marshall School of Business. She is an active member of both the California Bar Association and the Law Society of England and Wales. She is an active member of the Private Directors Association and a Governance Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors.
