Overview

Harry Douglas went to Princeton in 1948, after the war. It was a different place then than it had been or would become. This story follows Harry's experiences in that "revered melieu". He goes through depression, self-doubt, recovery and then morning as his twin brother is injured at Colgate. Then, by innocently asking the student services office if he ca see his ATS scores (still lacking confidence), he is rewarded by being placed under psychiatric therapy. Somehow, this "goof" gets him into the Special Program in the Humanities, an elite academic path that will allow him to finish his course studies in three years

About the Author

The story is substantially autobiographical (of course. Hemingway said if you are a writer you write; and if you are a good writer, you write about what you know.) But I didn't end up as a writer, I ended up as an international lawyer specializing in development projects (like the first bit foreign investment in China in 1979.) I've written a number of short works, one called The Berry Tales Quartet. I also wrote a magnum opus which explores why global Christianity began to fail after WWII, and why the roots of it lay in prior centuries. I explore this theme in narrating Harry Douglas' encounter with Huppe and Robertson elucidation of Shakespeare and de doctrina christiana. Have fun.
