An antique hope chest containing five unique objects . . . five people inexorably drawn to the items inside . . . each sent to the past with the help of a magical matchmaker who assigns them a task to find their true love . . . even across time.

Unable to sell her work, frustrated artist Cynda Madison restores old paintings instead. When she works to bring back the damaged portrait of the very handsome, very sexy Prince Dimitri Karakov found in the ruined Chesterfield Hotel, she finds herself overwhelmingly drawn to the prince who died at a young age. When she finds an old hope chest, she ends up back in time in 1889 when The Chesterfield is very much a bustling resort and Prince Dimitri is a resident. Alive and devastatingly handsome, Dimitri is even more irresistible. But can she prevent his death before she can return to her own time? Even more difficult, can she prevent herself from falling in love with him?

About the Author

Karen Fox has always loved to read. Her first stories reflected her interest in science fiction (though somehow they always managed a romance as well). Following graduation from High School, she attended the local junior college in pursuit of a journalism degree. However, before she completed her degree, she fell in love and married. Her husband, John Fox, joined the Air Force soon after they married and they spent the next twenty years living around the world while raising three children. It wasn't until she reached Colorado Springs and learned about a local Romance Writers of America chapter that she went from writing for fun to writing as a career. She joined the chapter and learned the business. She became part of a critique group, the Wyrd Sisters, and grew as a writer. After five years, four completed books, and a move to Biloxi, she finally sold her first book to Leisure Love Spell. Her first book, Sword of MacLeod, made the Ingram's Bestseller List as did her second book, Somewhere My Love. In fact, she was thrilled when she learned that Somewhere My Love was a RITA finalist in 1998 for Best Paranormal. This book was also a finalist in Affaire de Coeur's Reader Awards, The Award of Excellence from Colorado Romance Writers, and FF&P's PRISM Award. After losing her editor, she had a brief dry spell until she sold a book of her heart--a contemporary fantasy entitled Prince of Charming--to Berkley/Jove. Since then, she sold three more contemporary fantasies to Berkley/Jove and wrote two books in series done with some of her Wyrd Sisters. Her second contemporary fantasy, Buttercup Baby, was a 2002 winner of the Booksellers' Best Award. Now that her husband has retired from the Air Force, they are making their home near the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs, CO. When not at home writing or ferrying grandchildren to their various activities, she works as a Technical Project Support Staff at The MITRE Corporation.
