The Price of Beauty: A Colorful Fairy Tale of Beauty
A uniquely original fairy tale retelling. A combination of Beauty and the Beast, Tamlin, and The King Who Would Have a Beautiful Wife.

In the High Kingdom of the Mortal Realm, the price of beauty is high. But the reward is pure power. The quest for it makes beasts out of some. And heroes out of others...

When seventeen-year-old Maisie picks a magical rose deep in the Fairy Queen's dark woods, she inadvertently calls both the Prince of the Mortal Realm and a terrifying darkling, the henchman of the Fairy Queen. The two are engaged in a battle for life and death. And although Maisie doesn't realize it, for the survival of the Mortal Realm.

Maisie desperately needs the rose, which bestows great beauty and cures curses, to heal her dying younger sister of the fatal aging sickness. But when the darkling lunges for her, she accidentally touches the rose with her bare hands and some of its magical beauty is bestowed to her.

A handsome young king has ascended the throne of the Mortal Realm. He requires a beautiful wife untouched by curse. But by law and magic, he must take a new queen from the cursed, malformed people of The Outlands. The High King's entourage emerges from the dark woods – minus their leader, the prince - in Maisie's village in The Outlands to select a wife for the newly crowned king. Now Maisie, who has no desire to leave her sister and The Outlands, appears, at least in part, to be the most beautiful of all.

Against her will, she is thrust into a deadly game of power and the magical worlds of the light and dark fae...

About the Author

Favorite fairy tale? I can't pick just one. That's why I love mashups and retellings.

The Beauty and The Fae Courts of Light and Dark series and the Grayling Prophecy series are the combination of an Italian fairy tale from Naples that my grandma used to tell me, The King Who Would Have a Beautiful Wife, and Tamlin, a Scottish fairy tale I particularly love. Both are about love. But also about the deeper things of the human psyche and experience.

I've chosen to release this epic-length tale first in smaller, more digestible chunks than the usual fantasy novel. With cliffhangers. If that's your thing, excellent. If not, then hang on until the story's finished and read it all at once. Every set of three smaller books will also be made available combined into a single larger book in the Grayling Prophecy series.

I write books that take me away to another world. That are imbued with a sense of magic and light.
