About the Author

Gabriel Nicholas Raspe was a book publisher in Nuremberg, born on 4 December 1712 who apprenticed as a printer in a bookstore in Leipzig. He printed books on a variety of subjects and was known for his illustrations. In the 1770’s he began publishing books on military matters that included heraldry and arms. He Published books on the armies of Europe including France, Prussia and, of course Poland-Lithuania. Raspe died on 25 October 1785.
