A young man takes a job as a probation officer just out of college with plans to move on to bigger and better things. Meanwhile, years go by and he becomes very cynical and builds a family and life while continuing as a P.O. This is more of a collection of probation stories than a novel with a plot, but after reading it, the reader will have a much better understanding of what P.O.'s deal with and why it does not work.
