Of the forty-two-year career of the RN, the author worked for forty-one years in the Intensive Care Unit, with twenty-eight years in the Cardiac ICU and fourteen years in the Neuro ICU in Northern California's first designated Comprehensive Stroke center. Having a BSN and CCRN for twenty-two years, she was a Coronary care unit supervisor, Advanced Cardiac Life Support instructor, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump and EKG educator, and student mentor.
