Overview

Over the course of their college and post-college years young women take a raw look at sexuality through a not so loud and proud lens on lesbianism, bisexuality, and sexual curiosity.

Stacey and Danica, the seemingly perfect couple, must deal with Stacey's boyfriend and her thirst for acceptance and popularity. Alexandra, a heterosexual graduate student, comes to a crossroads when she meets Mya.

A mystery lady floats across several state lines to have lesbian rendezvous, but always returns home to her boyfriend and flaunts her homophobic opinions.

Stephanie, Lauren, and Rene befriend a freshman and introduce her to a lifestyle of wild parties and drinking. A privately-open lesbian Julia embarks on a new relationship while dealing with her homophobic family.

Six years after graduating college, Danielle, returns for Alumni Weekend festivities with her husband; secrets are exposed and the future of her marriage is questioned.

Their journeys are uniquely different yet similar; parallel lives that sometimes intersect. The young women share six short stories on relationships, love, confusion, death, marriage, religion, alcoholism, and much more.

About the Author

Perhaps I was born a writer in September of 1984 in Augusta, Georgia or maybe I became one somewhere in between my upbringing in Panama, Virgina, Alabama, and North Carolina. I like to believe I was born curious with a vivid imagination and being an Army Brat gave me a chance early on to get a taste of the world; leaving my adult years wide open and free to explore. The paper and pencil are truly my passport; the real passport is just a formality.

I always enjoyed writing in school; even the dreaded writing test! I would be upset I didn’t have enough space to finish my thoughts. Somewhere in the abyss of mementos my mom has a 1 page writing of mine from 4th grade. The task was to finish the prompt of waking up one morning and discovering you’ve been transformed into a kite. My kite went on adventure in Spanglish and looking back at that writing it’s clear to see I had a talent of some sorts. In high school I was introduced to poetry and fell head over heels. I would scribble poems on every sheet of paper I could find.

My interest in dance, singing, and playing piano welcomed writing. I began to write songs and choreograph dances. I’ve always had a genuine love for the arts and was pleased I could blend my interest together. My peers encouraged my writing even though I would sometimes hide my ability to write; I guess I feared being judged. Throughout college years my writing style began to change and I explored different avenues of writing. I attended open mics and slowly, but surely found the courage to get on stage. I was inspired by other poets and musicians. I loved the gathering of artists and the sharing of our art.

Writing has become a huge part of my life. I’ve found a way to speak without speaking. Through writing I’m able to share my thoughts, experiences, and lace it with the limitlessness of imagination. The freedom I find in writing is indescribable. It is my chance to create and express without restraints.

This is only the beginning of my writings. Life is a journey and I invite all readers of my writings to join me on this journey.
