Overview

[...] And behold, a lawyer stood up to put Him to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?... But he, wishing to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"
This question from the lawyer to Jesus is central to the issue of otherness, of encountering the other. In addressing this question, we intend to respectively mobilize the vision of the Antillean thinker Édouard Glissant, the Franco-Algerian philosopher Jacques Derrida, and the Congolese writer Zamenga Batukezanga on the paths they explore in response to this important aforementioned question posed by the lawyer. In doing so, we propose in this text a cross-reading between the thoughts of Glissant, Derrida and Batukezanga.
