About the Author

Nancy Akhavan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership at Fresno State. She has held numerous positions as teacher, principal, and district office leader.  She has lead literacy programs for schools K-12. She currently consults with teachers, as well as school and district leaders to implement effective reading and writing instruction to close the achievement gap and increase reading achievement for all students. Nancy is the author of numerous professional books, including The Nonfiction Now Lesson Bank (Corwin Literacy, 2015)
