Overview

A hopeful but cynical tale about a unique mission to change human nature as a way to avert climate chaos and ecological disaster.

Sergeant Jim Kettle suffered a landmine explosion beneath his patrol vehicle during active service. A brain scan during his recuperation in hospital revealed some oddities, but nothing to explain his sudden obsession with the cruelty we inflict on each other, and the natural world. Preventing a stabbing in his workplace led Jim to make an impassioned outburst on a popular TV show which was later heard by the Governor of a beautiful Latin American State. Her success in calming a vicious civil war in a neighboring country gave her the confidence to fulfill a dream she had nurtured from childhood,. and she invited Jim onto a small team with a mission to save the world from the ravages of humankind.
Against a background of catastrophic weather events, the mission is beset with political duplicity; big business hostility; religious objection, and murder. But trust in reason, and a surprising revelation could lead to success and a peaceful world.

About the Author

Peter Scott grew up in post war austerity Britain and joined the RAF.
He was lucky enough to be posted to Kenya which sparked an interest in mountaineering and the local ecology, but it also acquainted him with the cruelty inherent in our own species.
Later, as an aircraft engineer in various parts of the world he could see the difficulty of squaring rapid population growth without poverty and damage to the natural environment.
Now settled at home he dismally concludes that his own precious island is also struggling to be a green and pleasant land as the population heads for seventy million.
Apart from being a general misery, he enjoys playing clarinet and jazz saxaphone; ranting on the BBC, and writing.
