Description: Medical illustrations from the Netter Collection highlight this update of a book on the medical illnesses of the spine and lower limbs.
Purpose: The purpose is to update the first edition with the current understanding of the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and management of different diseases and conditions of the musculoskeletal system.
Audience: The authors intend this work for a wide spectrum of trainees and teachers at all levels in both the medical and allied health professions. The editors are senior faculty from the Cleveland Clinic's Orthopaedic & Rheumatologic Institute. They have recruited 16 contributors, of which 40 percent are residents or fellow physicians. Five medical illustrators, led by Carlos A.G. Machado, MD, add new illustrations.
Features: The book is organized into five sections covering the spine, pelvis-hip-thigh, knee, lower leg, and foot-ankle. They are superbly supported by Netter's amazing and accurate color illustrations. The written text goes hand in hand with the original plate illustrations and, in the case of updated surgical procedures and classifications, the more recent drawings from Dr. Machado and his associates. References are few in number.
