About the Author

Morwenna Assaf is an internationally recognized master educator of Middle Eastern dance. She received her first dance training in ballet through England�s Royal Academy of Ballet. In 1973, she was introduced to Middle Eastern dance in New Bedford, MA and in love with this ethnic dance form. She was mentored by and received extensive training from the late Ibrahim Farrah of NYC in 1976 until 1996 and the late La Meri in this dance form. She has forged a professional relationship with Lebanon�s renowned master teacher, Amani after being invited to teach in Beirut, Lebanon in October of 2011.
For the last 25 years, she has been dedicated to presenting, preserving and educating the general public on ethnic culture and folklore through their dance forms, especially those countries that make up the eastern Arabic nations. She has authored several books designed to help all students and teachers of Middle Eastern dance be more knowledgeable about the dance and culture. Her wish is to see Middle Eastern dance as a main stream dance around the world. Everything she does is towards the education and keeping the culture in Arabic Dance.

Walid Assaf, a Lebanese native, teaches Middle Eastern rhythm (percussion). He is an international star of both drum and debke. Coming from a family of entertainers who entertained throughout Lebanon and the Middle East, he has an extensive background in Lebanese music and debke. He has shared his wife�s passion of bringing the knowledge and true art form of Middle Eastern dance to the public since 1980.
