The Mis-Education of Black Youth in America
Dr. Rick Wallace, Ph.D. is a champion of the cause of black men reclaiming their positions as leaders, protectors, providers, and coverings for their families and others. He also believes that the confusion of male and female roles in the black community has further exacerbated the schismatic issues that continue to drive the black man and the black woman apart -- devastating the black family nucleus. While he sees the fallible action of the woman, he focuses his primary efforts on encouraging and empowering young black men to take the lead, believing that most black women will adjust by nature. Dr. Wallace also places an immense level of gravity on the holistic education of black youth, asserting that not only has the public education system mis-educated and underprepared black youth for the competitive world in which they must reside, but that black parents and the black community have failed in the task of holistically educating its youth beyond the attainment of academic skills.

About the Author

Dr. Wallace is also a creative and talented author. He published his first article in 1985 (The Invisible Father), at the age of 17, and has been writing ever since. That original article eventually became the inspiration for his first book: The Invisible Father: Reversing the Curse of a Fatherless Generation. He has since authored 15 other books, such as: Abiding in Abundance, Renewing Your Mind: The Dynamics of Christian Transformation, When Your House Is Not a Home and his latest contribution, The Mis-education of Black Youth in America. Additionally, Dr. Wallace has published two doctoral dissertations that include The Influence of Theocratic Concepts on Social Culture and his latest contribution, The Influence of Cognitive Distortions on the Social Mobility and Mental Health of African Americans. He believes in holistically address issues, rather that applying social Band-Aids to the horrific wound of the black collective.
