About the Author

Aneissa L. Patterson, affectionately known as Angel, was born and raised in the foothills of western North Carolina. From Lenoir, in the small community known as West End Aneissa was surrounded by athletes from inside and outside of her close-knit family and friends. Her older and younger brothers were active in the locally sponsored competitive sports through Lenoir’s municipal recreation and school systems. Basketball, football, baseball, wrestling…there seemed to always be a practice, game, tournament or some related activity happening, and Angel was right there in the mix. While she was more of a supporter and spectator herself, she was enthusiastic about what was taking place on the court or field or in the arena. Of these, basketball seemed to be in the forefront.

Angel always had a vivid imagination and a creative nature. So, it comes as no surprise that she has made this journey into the world of writing this series of children’s books. Drawing from childhood memories of cheering for her brothers from the sidelines to watching her own son and now grandson develop a fascination with the game of basketball has inspired her to create this whimsical story of awe for the sport from the eyes of a young child.

"With every word penned, I hoped to encapsulate the essence of our basketball family— the resilience, teamwork, and joy that the game brings into our lives. My aim was not just to tell a story, but to craft an experience that children and their parents could share and see a bit of themselves in, much like my family shares our love for basketball.
