About the Author

Helen Pappas is a visual photographer with a unique perspective of interests. Growing up in Colorado, she had found it difficult to connect with her friends, resulting in confusion and Loneliness. Art has always helped Helen to creatively express herself, however. It wasn’t until after moving to Connecticut that she started to discover there’s more to life than what most people think. Her first inspiration came after attending transition school in the fall of 2012. It was there that Helen started to practice photography, with encouragement from her mentor, friends and family. She could still remember their exact words, “you truly have an eye for photography. They were right. Today, Helen continues to advocate for those with unique abilities through her documented works, and hopes to inspire others to do the same. To quote her late ancestor, Henry David Therou - “it’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see”
