Overview

What are you going to do when the lights go out? Are you ready to walk over 400 miles to get home? This is the story of Van Dearing and his journey to get home with his kids and 2 Royal Standard Poodles. The family is hiking in the Sierra Nevada Mountains when a massive CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) hits the earth. Anything that requires an electric circuit will not work. No cars, no computers, no cell phones, no GPS no planes. It's back to the horse and buggy for most of the world. Van must use all his skills as a former army officer and sheriff to protect his family and the strangers he meets along 395 heading south. Skills that might have tested his humanity if he hadn't been retired from the army. Skills that he doesn't necessarily like. He is the harbinger of bad news and death whether it's his fault or not. Van is one complicated person.
