About the Author

Frank Tagen lives in New Hampshire with his wife Kathy and their dog Buster at Story Book Cottage.

Frank has published mostly spiritual poetry and Greeting Card verse over the years. Though his first and greatest love has always been Children's Fairy Tales.

As a young boy he recalls, growing up on Bunker Hill in Charlestown Massachusetts, a part of Boston. I can still see my Grandfather Fred sitting in his old brown overstuffed chair, while he told me stories of when he was a long shore man working on the docks in Boston, unloading ships.

He would tell me how, at night, there would be "some funny business going on" aboard ship and on the docks. Nobody knew what it was all about.... but he knew, he said. It was the "The Little People" and "The Fairies". He told me that they would come from as far away as Ireland, England, Germany, France and Scotland.

They came here he said..Because back home where they had come from, they were onto them, and would put up with their shenanigans any longer. I also remember my Grandmother Sarah would bake an extra apple pie for after supper and would place a small piece on a stool by the back door.

When I asked her once why she placed the pie on the stool, she told me that when we went to bed at night, "The Little People" would watch over us when all the Angels were busy and for this, she rewarded them with her pie.

So at a very young age, a long time ago, my love for fairy tales had begun.
