Overview

This book tells the story of the young and earnest Algernon Swift, who is perplexed by life and all the ambiguities that language throw at him. By contrast, his elderly uncle Reverend Hawker revels in them, and, eventually, Algernon learns to feel joy amidst all the confusion. The Life and Times of Algernon Swift started out as a blog in 2009 and then developed into a series of postcards of cartoons. Some of the jokes in the book took a long time—sometimes years—to make up. The result is a clever and ingenious take on puns and the many, often puzzling, ambiguities of language
