Overview

In the summer of 1941, the United States is only months away from being at war. Despite nearly two years of military build-up, America is ill prepared to combat the conflagration that has spread across Europe and onto the Atlantic's high seas. In Berlin, Admiral Doenitz, head of the Kriegsmarine's deadly U-Boat force is putting the finishing touches on Operation Neuland which will bottle up America's merchant fleet as it tries to come o Britain's aid.
Rick Kasten lost the love of his life to Nazi thugs in Lisbon and has been looking to get even. Once an amateur spy now turned professional, Rick is sent back into the heart of Nazi Germany to torpedo the Doenitz's plans. While he is there, he has a bit of payback to exact.
The Last Voyage of the Paramaribo Queen sets a stormy course from New York to Lisbon and across the Atlantic to the tranquil Caribbean. But that tranquility is deceptive and short-lived, U-Boats and spies abound on the lush tropical coast of South America. Once again, Rick Kasten finds himself pitted against modern-day pirates who ply the waters of the Spanish Main in search of the black gold that fuels modern warfare.

About the Author

Author John Bushby was introduced to the film noire genre while in grade school. Beginning by watching grainy films on a1950s black and white television he began to satiate his taste for the genre by reading everything he could find. He soon became a regular at the bookstore and library. Bushby has drawn on the experience of over thirty years of global business experience, traveling in and out of Europe and Asia to set the background for his books.
His characters come from the people he has met along the way. Heroes and villains are drawn from casual and close acquaintances, often a mixture of both. His stories put the reader in the place where they ask, what would I do in a situation where life or death might hang in the balance? Bushby's characters live in the years between the two world wars caught in the swirl of action and intrigue as spies try to best one another and evil and good position themselves for the catastrophe to come.
The characters Harry Braham and Rick Kasten are based on real people who fought against the Nazis.
Bushby lives in Flanders, New Jersey. He is now working on the next titles in the Harry Braham and Rick Kasten series. You can learn more at his website; www.johnbushby.com
