When the seven-year-old and her folks finally move into their new-ish home—a dilapidated, Victorian-style manor deep in the woods—it not only means starting a new chapter of their lives. For Mackenzie, it also signifies something far more important: getting the pet she's always wanted.
But as soon as they settle in, the Holloways start having strange experiences. Deep scratches and black marks are all over the place, glowing slimeballs show up at random, and spooky noises occur nightly. Her parents are less than thrilled and unsure of what's going on, but Mackenzie soon discovers the cause of the mysterious phenomena...
